Paying Tribute to Charleston Firefighters

Tiger Lily provided arrangements and nine wreaths, one for each firefighter who died in the Super Sofa Store fire in 2007. Yesterday marked the fifth anniversary of the tragedy. The heroes were honored with a musical tribute by James Smith, a procession of firefighters and the ringing of a bell for each. Each of the nine firefighters is also commemorated with a marker like the one shown in the picture. A single rose lay below it when the day began, but by the end each marker was completely surrounded with things left behind by loved ones, friends, and members of the community. Tiger Lily was glad to be part of the special event.
