Weekend Wedding at Lowndes Grove

Over half the Tiger Lily staff was involved in the setup for a gorgeous wedding this past weekend at Lowndes Grove, planned by our very own Lindsey Shanks.

A new chuppah was added to the growing collection, this one had a delicate lace fabric canopy and framed the couple with lithianthus, hydrangea, and white roses. Chuppah setup is usually an hour and a half long process, but thanks to every one who helped it only took about thirty minutes!

Lowndes Grove Plantation provided a scenic backdrop for both the ceremony and the reception. The historic main house was built in 1786 and is just as beautiful inside as out. With it behind them and the Ashley river infront, guests had almost stepped back in time.

Tiger Lily Featured in Charleston Regional Business Journal

Manny's mantra, "Good things lead to good things", is holding true! The Charleston Regional Business Journal heard about our Google interview, about Tiger Lily's use of Google technology, and wanted to speak with us too. It is always a pleasure to work with them and on this occasion a thirty minute meeting turned into two hours. This also granted us the opportunity to talk with and receive feedback from other businesses who saw the CRBJ article.

Steadily becoming known for leading the use of business technology, earlier this year Tiger Lily was visited by the Google team who interviewed Clara and Manny. Watch out Hollywood, the pair looks great on camera! You can watch the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ku5oxCdemaQ

Tiger Lily Gets Published!

The only thing better than a job well done is having the final product published. Tiger Lily Weddings has been fortunate to be featured in print and online publications such as Style Me Pretty, The Wedding Row, A Lowcountry Wedding, Love Toast, Southern Weddings, and Inspired By This.

Most recently, Tiger Lily became the official floral designer for Charleston's new magazine The Local Palate.  The page above shows the arragnement we provided for a feature in the May/June issue. The experts at The Local Palate fill the magazine with the best food and drink in the lowcountry and provide a background story too. Learn more about The Local Palate at http://www.localpalatemag.com/ and to see all of the wonderful weddings that have been featured go to our website: http://www.tigerlilyweddings.com/press.html

Paying Tribute to Charleston Firefighters

Tiger Lily provided arrangements and nine wreaths, one for each firefighter who died in the Super Sofa Store fire in 2007. Yesterday marked the fifth anniversary of the tragedy. The heroes were honored with a musical tribute by James Smith, a procession of firefighters and the ringing of a bell for each. Each of the nine firefighters is also commemorated with a marker like the one shown in the picture. A single rose lay below it when the day began, but by the end each marker was completely surrounded with things left behind by loved ones, friends, and members of the community. Tiger Lily was glad to be part of the special event.

Flowers You Can Give to a Guy

Phalaenopsis, the scientific name for orchids, are our top pick for a contemporary or masculine vibe. Their crisp, clean, and simple lines add visual interest without the fluff. Especially unique is the yellow star orchid pictured below. The orchids we are known for are hand delivered from growers in North Carolina and Southern Florida. They deliver flowers to shops all over, but come here first, giving us the opportunity to offer greater size and variety than big box and hardware stores.

Though Orchids are usually equated with being high maintenance, they are actually rather simple to care for, as they are best watered twice a week and then left alone, making this low maintenance flower perfect for forgetful men, or any one who wants a beautiful plant that's easy to care for.

Some Exceptional Tiger Lily Requests

One of the most interesting aspects of life at Tiger Lily are the phenomenal requests we sometimes receive. Just this past weekend, we delivered over 1000 daisies to The Sanctuary on Kiawah Island for one romantic gentleman proposing to his girlfriend. The multitude of daisies went to a single room, twenty vases with fifty stems in each vase. Unfortunately, we were unable to get a picture but are sure the lucky lady must have been impressed with the grand display. The gesture reminded us of another time when we set up a romantic dinner for two on Kiawah island beach. Flower garlands lined the cozy tent and floated under the glass table. A soft glow really set the mood for the couples evening and we deemed the event a success!
